Architectural Technician

An opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technician to join our thriving RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice.  This is a full time position working on a wide variety of nationwide projects including listed buildings, high end residential development, contemporary residential new builds and bespoke commercial premises.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Understand a client brief.
  • Arrive at a suitable design solution in conjunction with other team members.
  • Produce accurate and detailed construction drawings to current Building Regulations standard.
  • Progress details through approval process.
  • Produce detailed works instructions, material specifications and schedules of work.
  • Understand technical and professional aspects of work and continually maintain technical knowledge.
  • Record and manage drawing registers.
  • Liaise with installation teams, sub-contract suppliers, customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain appropriate effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure.
  • Demonstrate good time management and self-organisation.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in HNC, HND or degree in Architectural Technology.
  • 5+ years within the industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations & Standards in the house building sector.
  • On site experience.
  • Computer literate – essential experience of AutoCAD(2D) 2011 onwards.
  • Knowledge of Sketchup would be an advantage.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision on construction drawings/building regulations requirements.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of products.
  • High level of accuracy and administrative efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • A positive attitude and good sense of humour.
  • Driving license and transport essential.

Office Trainee/Apprenticeship

The successful candidate will learn all the skills they need to assist with the preparation and delivery of an Architectural Technician. They will learn how to liaise between clients and contractors. To undertake activities such as site measurements, learn how to use AutoCad, produce planning drawings, photoshop and any other general office duties.

We will expect you to develop your skills in:

  • Working independently using your own initiative
  • Information, quantities and communicating with others
  • Planning and design process and environmental considerations
  • Commercial awareness
  • AutoCad
  • To attend college to complete an HND in construction one day a week

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 GCSE’s grades A-C’s (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science
  • Good standards of written and verbal communication
  • IT literate
  • Able to work in a team

RIBA Part 1 placement

We have an opportunity for a RIBA Part 1 placement year out/gap year post graduate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to fully immerse themselves in the conception and delivery of exciting projects including listed buildings, high end residential development, contemporary residential new builds and bespoke commercial projects.

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to take on a wide range of tasks to support the day to day running of a busy architectural practice. The ideal candidate must be qualified to at least RIBA Part 1 or equivalent, will have excellent written and spoken English, be highly competent in drawing on AutoCAD and have a good working knowledge of MS Office.  You need to have good organisational skills, take pride in your work whilst building a strong working relationship with your work colleagues, clients and consultants,

Full driving licence and transport is essential

Salary will be subject to experience.
