Barrowden Hub is approved

An £88,000 scheme to replace a dilapidated village hall moved a step closer after plans were given the green light.

Rutland County Council planers approved the proposals to demolish the 96-year-old village hall in Barrowden and build a new community hub on the site.

A structural survey revealed a host of problems with the current building including rot, wet rot, and a leaky roof, while a lack of wall insulation makes it difficult to heat.

The project dates back to 2016 and has demanded a lot hard workand organiation from the Brrowden Village Hall Development Group, formed of six trustees.
