The brief

Develop an overall site strategy that secured the long term future of the building, in terms of use, security and health and safety
Undertake the programme of works, with sensitivity and awareness of surrounding residents and the hazards presented by the sites location
Deliver the successful completion of the project to meet timescales and budgets and reinstate this iconic landmark

The solution

A forgotten, historic roadhouse, set on the side of the A1 noted as a building of historic interest by the local authority had laid desolate for nearly a decade before we became involved in it.

As a practice we were involved in appraising the building and site and developing strategies that would see the successful restoration and extension of the building, undertake the site works to make it safer for access and secure additional planning with the site boundary that facilitated the works.

As a practice we strive to deliver schemes with vision for not only the buildings architectural design but it’s financial ability. By taking this approach we have often proved a valuable asset and as such as built up a selective range of repeat commercial and domestic clients.

Vision was definitely needed for the abandoned site of the former Little Chef.

The project completed in summer 2016.
