Patens of Stamford

The brief
  • Internal alterations to existing property converting it from a night club to a restaurant
The solution

Located in the centre of Stamford on the prominent location of Red Lion Square, formerly a very popular night club called the Periwig. The client wanted to convert the space from nightclub to urban bar catering for socialites and create a modern, mature environment for people to meet, eat and drink.

Split over 3 levels, the urban, industrial theme inside makes The Patens a very individual and welcoming. The clients vision for style bleeds into every corner of this place, from bespoke furniture, to the materials, or lack their of. A sensitive, considered and honest approach was taken answering the brief with social communal areas catering for parties on the ground floor and booths and tables for two on the floors above. In areas where restoration took place, every effort was made to preserve the existing character. In one instance when stripping the walls a  signature was found from someone who had worked on the building over half a century ago, and this was left for visitors to enjoy.

A hugely successful project and a testament to the clients well researched vision and keen eye for detail, making this one of the best spots in town to visit.
