RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge
We are embracing fully sustainable design within all our projects
Through responsible design, we are working towards a better future
“The built environment is responsible for around 40% of global carbon emissions and architects have a significant role to play in reducing UK greenhouse gas emissions to net zero.”
RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge
Harris McCormack Architects concur with the above statement. We believe that architects need to play their part in helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Low-energy design
- Optimal orientation
- Minimal wastage
- Locally sourced materials
Helping to minimise our impact on the environment
We are well placed to play our part to assist in creating low-energy buildings fit for the future. The Practice has signed up to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge (opens in a new tab) and there is in-house experience in low-energy building design, with the design and construction of two low-energy houses.
We have extensive knowledge of the in-house use of low-energy technologies such as:
- Solar PV panels
- Air source heat pumps
- Mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) systems
- Insulated beam-and-block floors
- SIPS panels
- Insulated concrete formwork
- Timber-framed buildings
While fully embracing the positives of low-energy buildings, the Practice will also always seek to deliver the highest design quality in all its buildings, embedding low-energy principles into its designs from early on.
Low-energy buildings come in many guises, from the simple use of bolt-on renewables and some additional insulation, right through to a full Passivhaus (opens in a new tab) approach.
Here are some of our sustainable builds.
